Kryptopyrroles are abnormal biochemicals that rob the body of Zinc and Vitamin B6. Also known as Pyrroles or Pyloruria these “pyrroles” are formed by abnormal hemoglobin production and felt to be associated with a schizophrenic condition. When these chemicals circulate in high amounts they deplete Zinc and Vitamin B6 quickly and prevent their necessary function within the brain and nervous system. There is a high incidence of pylouria seen in individuals on the autism-spectrum, and others with mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive behavior, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
The Krytopyrrole Test from Great Plains Laboratory is a convenient way to measure excess pyrrole production through a urine sample. Because of the sensitivity of pyrroles and the need to time sensitive analysis this test is only available within the United States.
