The Test Panels listed on this page are for individuals looking to do more thorough laboratory assessment other than just a few random tests. These particular tests are the most commonly ordered laboratory assessments by those practicing the precepts of integrative medicine. The information garnered from these labs is extensive and, when correlated with other labs in their respective panel, provides you with detailed information regarding your or your child’s health. You will notice that some labs are repeated in various symptom or condition sections. The reason is the labs offered through Lab Tests Plus are not just specific for one particular health concern, but are comprehensive when applied across various health issues. You can use this section as a guide to which tests are best to order for your particular situation.

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity:

The recommended panel for ADHD consists of six tests – the Organic Acids Test (OAT), Food IgG with Candida & Yeast Antibodies, Hair Analysis for minerals and heavy metals, Vitamin D, comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis and Urine Amino Acids.  Food sensitivities and adverse reactions to proteins like gluten and casein can have profound and adverse effects on individuals with ADHD. A Food IgG panel will help to identify foods that may cause reactions that worsen symptoms of ADHD. The Hair Analysis evaluates the presence of heavy metals like lead, nickel and mercury and screens for mineral imbalances that can be associated with ADHD. Yeast, bacteria, and other metabolic imbalances can contribute to, or cause ADHD and the Organic Acids Test is an excellent profile for various metabolic toxins. Vitamin D is an important vitamin for brain and neurological function. Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis is used to assess the presence of gastrointestinal infections and markers for inflammation and absorption. Lastly, Urine Amino Acids can reveal imbalances that can directly affect brain chemistry.

Autism-Spectrum Disorder:

The recommended panel for Autism Spectrum Disorders consists of six tests – the Organic Acids Test, Comprehensive Stool Analysis, Food IgG with Candida & Yeast Antibodies, Hair Analysis, Urine Amino Acid Analysis, and Vitamin D. Food sensitivities and adverse reactions to specific proteins like gluten and casein can have profoundly adverse effects on individuals with autism, hence the need for Food IgG panel. Heavy metals like arsenic, lead, and mercury have been shown to be high in individuals with autism, and any level of heavy metal toxicity can be a problem for someone on the autism-spectrum. Hair analysis is a good screening test for heavy metals and mineral evaluation. Yeast, bacteria, and other metabolic imbalances can contribute to or worsen symptoms associated with Autism and the Organic Acids Test is an excellent profile for various metabolic toxins. Vitamin D is an important vitamin that affects brain and neurological function. The Urine Amino Acids reveals imbalances that can directly affect brain chemistry.

Candidiasis (chronic candida)

The recommended test panel for Candidiasis includes the Organic Acids Test (OAT) from Mosaic Diagnostics. The OAT is the best all-around test for yeast toxins which can negatively impact gut health, energy, and cognitive function. In addition, the OAT has numerous markers which help to evaluate the health of several biochemical pathways and identify metabolic toxins. Many of these pathways can be altered because of the presence of candida. The Food IgG assesses for food sensitivities that may be contributing to chronic candida, gut issues, and fatigue. Additionally, the Food IgG panel measure antibodies to yeast and systemic candida.

Chronic Fatigue

The recommended test panel for Chronic Fatigue includes the Organic Acids Test (OAT) from Mosaic Diagnostics. The OAT is the best all-around test for the presence of yeast toxins which can negatively impact overall health. Additionally, the OAT has various markers which help to evaluate the health of several biochemical pathways and identify metabolic toxins. Many of these pathways can be altered because of the presence of candida, bacteria, and fungal overgrowth. Adverse food reactions can contribute to chronic fatigue and is evaluated through the Food IgG Panel.  Heavy metal and mineral imbalances, assessed by the Hair Analysis also adversely affect cellular function and energy metabolism. The Adrenal Stress Profile evaluates salivary cortisol levels at four time points throughout the day revealing the capacity of the adrenal glands to respond to common stressors. Lastly, the Essential Thyroid Panel evaluates common thyroid markers. Amongst many symptoms, low thyroid function commonly presents as fatigue and brain fog. Vitamin D is an important nutrient for brain and neurological function and the Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis is used to assess the presence of gastrointestinal infections and markers for inflammation and malabsorption.

Digestive Problems (constipation, diarrhea, bloating, gas, etc.):

The recommended test panel for Digestive Problems involves 3 key tests – Organic Acids Test (OAT), the GI 360, and the Food IgG with Candida & Yeast Antibodies. The OAT is a comprehensive profile of various toxins from yeast, bacteria and other biochemical imbalances which can have direct effect on digestive function and overall health. The GI 360 takes a close look at the microbiome and the presence of bacteria, viruses, parasites. This test also provides an analysis of digestive function, inflammatory markers, gut immunology, the presence of short chain fatty acids and general markers of GI health. Food sensitivities and reactions to certain components in foods such as gluten and casein, can also cause or contribute to digestive problems. The Food IgG reveals food sensitivities that may not always be obvious but can add to inflammation and gut dysfunction.

Depression

The recommended test panel for Depression includes the Organic Acids Test (OAT) and the Food IgG with Candida & Yeast Antibodies from Mosaic Diagnostics. We also include Hair Analysis for minerals and heavy metals, the Urine Amino Acid Profile and the Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis. The OAT is the best all-around test for yeast toxins which can negatively impact gut health, energy, and cognitive function. In addition, the OAT has numerous markers which help to evaluate the health of several biochemical pathways associated with neurotransmitter production and can identify metabolic toxins that affect brain health. Adverse food reactions can contribute to depression as well and can be evaluated with the Food IgG panel. Additionally, links to depression have been found with exposure to heavy metals, mineral imbalances, and vitamin D deficiency. Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis is used to assess the presence of gastrointestinal infections and markers of inflammation and malabsorption. Intestinal problems with yeast, bacteria, parasites and poor nutrient absorption can also contribute to depression. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and neurotransmitters and deficiencies can have a direct impact on neurological function and brain health.

Fibromyalgia (FM)

The recommended test panel for Fibromyalgia (FM) includes the Organic Acids Test (OAT) and the Food IgG with Candida & Yeast Antibodies from Mosaic Diagnostics. We also recommend measuring a Vitamin D level, Hair Analysis for minerals and heavy metals, and Urine Amino Acids. The OAT is the best all-around test for yeast toxins which can negatively impact overall health. The OAT has various markers which help to evaluate the health of several biochemical pathways and identify metabolic toxins. Many of these pathways can be altered because of the presence of candida, bacteria, and fungal overgrowth. Adverse food reactions can contribute to FM and heavy metal and mineral imbalances also adversely affect cellular metabolism and energy production. Vitamin D is a necessary nutrient for brain health and neurological function. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and deficiencies in various amino acids have a direct impact on neurological function and cellular metabolism that may be compromised in FM.

Mental Health:

Mental health conditions can often be linked to underlying metabolic imbalances linked to various foods, chemicals, and metals, in conjunction with neurotransmitter disorders. This grouping of laboratory tests helps to define biochemical imbalances that can be associated with various mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, etc. These laboratory tests do not diagnosis a mental health condition but are useful for identifying factors that could be negatively influencing the brain and nervous system.

Metabolic Imbalance:

Toxins, biochemical dysfunction, and nutritional imbalances are often linked to various metabolic problems. These laboratory profiles help to identify factors associated with metabolic disruption that can be seen in diabetes, cardiovascular disease, liver problems, and metabolic syndrome.

Neurological:

There are many neurological disorders with unknown causes. However, some disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease are often associated with dysfunctional biochemistry linked to oxidative stress, environmental compounds, and nutritional imbalances, and endogenous toxins, e.g., clostridia bacteria toxins. This grouping of laboratory tests helps to define the existence of imbalances commonly seen in chronic neurological disorders.

NOTE: Most tests are not available to residents of New York. Any orders or samples originating from New York will automatically be canceled.
